True vs. False Nourishment
There are hungers that never seem to end — and others that end us in their quiet satisfaction.
I’ve come to see that not all nourishment is true.
Some “nourishment” flatters the surface while the system quietly collapses.
Some “fuel” keeps us going, but away from ourselves.
False nourishment excites, inflates, or numbs.
It mimics comfort without rebuilding life.
It’s the midnight scroll, the half-eaten protein bar, the conversation that leaves you emptier than before.
True nourishment doesn’t seduce – it stabilizes.
It doesn’t distract – it grounds.
It doesn’t take – it gives you back to yourself.
I’ve learned to ask different questions now:
• Does this bring me home to my body?
• Will I still feel well in 20 minutes?
• Does this feel like kindness — or escape?
True nourishment is not just what we eat.
It’s how we breathe, rest, speak, and listen.
It’s the texture of presence we allow in the in-between moments.
This is not a detox.
It’s a return.
